Project Completion

Scottish Water is pleased to announce the early completion of a significant network upgrade in Thurso, bringing improved water services to customers months ahead of the original schedule.

The project began in April 2023 and involved upgrading 11.7km of water mains across the Viewfield, Janetstown, and Newlands of Geise areas. The project was initially expected to be completed by summer 2025, however; due to the dedicated efforts of the teams on site, the work was finalised earlier than expected.

The essential upgrade was undertaken to ensure customers continue to enjoy fresh, clear drinking water for years to come, while reducing the risk of pipe bursts and unplanned disruptions.

The project was managed by Scottish Water’s alliance partner, Caledonia Water Alliance, and the pipework was installed by the contractor GMR Henderson.
