project statys delivery

Project Overview

We are upgrading the water pipes in and around the Madderty & St. David’s area to ensure our customers continue to enjoy fresh, clear drinking water, and reduce the chance of pipes bursting.

We will be installing approximately 20km of new water main from north of the A85 towards Kirkton.

The programme of work is expected to be completed by August 2025.

The work is being delivered by FCH Ltd, on behalf of our alliance partner Caledonia Water Alliance.

At A Glance

  • Installing 20km of new water main
  • Improving resilience and quality of the water supply
  • 16 month duration
  • Delivered by Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA)

What We Are Doing

The work will involve carefully planned excavations along the pipe route, with some sections requiring open-cut replacement—a method where we dig a trench to access and replace the pipe.

To carry out this work safely, there will be activity on the roads and road verges along the route, which will require different types of traffic management. This may include temporary traffic lights and road closures, with clearly marked local diversions in place to ensure the safety of both our workforce and the public.

All planned road closures will be clearly signposted in advance, and we kindly ask customers to follow the signage at all times for a smooth and safe journey.

C462 Dubheads to Loanfoot - Updated April 2025

We are about to commence the next section of work, which will be on the road from Dubheads to Trinity Gask.

Work here will begin from Monday, 14 April 2025, and last approximately 14 weeks.

This phase will involve a rolling road closure along the C462 from Dubheads to Loanfoot to allow us to install the new water main.

There will be no vehicular access through the closure section, however; local access for residents will be maintained from at least one end of the closed section of road.

Our site team will liaise with any customer affected to advise and assist with access.

We thank road users and residents for their patience and understanding during the next phase of these essential works.

Community Engagement: Visit to Madderty Primary School

As part of our ongoing commitment to engage with the local community as the project in Madderty progresses, our alliance partner, Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) visited Madderty Primary School to deliver Water Cycle educational talks to the entire school.

The team delivered two informative sessions, reaching approximately 70 enthusiastic students. Each student received a reusable Scottish Water bottle as a token of our appreciation for their participation and eagerness to learn.

The students were absolutely brilliant—polite, highly engaged, and full of insightful questions about the water cycle. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made the visit incredibly rewarding for everyone involved.

Those from CWA had a fantastic time interacting with the students and sharing knowledge about the essential role of water in our environment. We look forward to continuing our efforts to engage and educate our community on important topics like this.

Thank you, Madderty Primary School, for welcoming the team and showing such an interest!
