project statys delivery

Project overview

Scottish Water and its capital project delivery partner Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA) are carrying out infrastructure upgrades on the sewer network in Windhill and Muir of Ord.

This essential work is taking place in order to help reduce the risk of sewer flooding by lowering the risk of pipes bursting.

Sewer upgrade work at Windhill and Muir of Ord

Construction of a new sewer will begin at the site of Windhill pumping station

What happens next

Construction of approximately 1.7km of new sewer will be carried out on a rolling basis starting from Windhill pumping station off the A862. Most of the works will be carried out in private or rural land. All working areas will be securely fenced off to ensure the safety of the public and our site team.

The next part of work involves crossing the A862. We had hoped to be able to drill the pipe under the road, however the ground conditions are such that we are unable to do so. As such, we now need to install the pipe across the A862 by open cut trench method, requiring a lane closure with temporary traffic lights. As work progresses the lane closure will flip to the other lane.

This stage of work is planned to start on the A862 from Tuesday 6 May 2025 for approximately 6 weeks.

Traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic safely through the lane closure area. During these works, vehicle access will be maintained to both the access road to Windhill and the access road to Tomich House. All working areas will be securely fenced off to ensure the safety of the public and our site team. Pedestrian Access will be maintained at all times.

During the works there may be noise from construction activities as we construct the new sewer. Our contractor Pat Munro Construction Ltd. will be carrying out this work on our behalf and they will do all they can to keep disruption to a minimum as much as possible.

We thank the community for their patience, understanding and co-operation in advance of these essential works to the sewer network.
