Kirkford Bridge

Kirkford Bridge
The road is a key route into Stewarton from the M77 and Glasgow
At this location:
We are updating an existing Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) and associated pipework to help alleviate flooding during periods of extreme weather.
Work is due to begin in June 2025 and take approximately six months to complete. The required road closure will be timed to coincide with the school summer holiday to minimise disruption to the community.

The road will be closed for approximately two months

The project is part of the Improving Urban Waters programme
Update June 2025
From Monday 30 June 2025, the B778 Holm Street will be closed at Kirkford Bridge at the Cutstraw Road junction, for approximately eight weeks to replace and upgrade a storm overflow.
The work has been timed to coincide with the school summer holidays to help minimise the impact on residents and we will be working extended hours and seven days a week to complete it as quickly as possible.
We appreciate this is one of the main routes into the town, particularly from the M77 and Glasgow, but the closure is necessary for us to carry out the work safely.
Diversions will be in place – including an alternative for heavy goods vehicles – and drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
We will do all that we can to minimise any disruption and would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding.
